In 2018, Xue Qin entered the PhD program at the Central China Normal University Institute of Modern History. She earned her Master’s degree in 2018 at the CCNU School of Humanities and Social Science Institute of Advanced Studies. Her research focuses on the institutional history of modern China and the development of the personnel system in the bureaucracy. Specific topics include changes in government institutions in the late Qing and changes in the personnel system of the central government’s Six Ministries in the late Qing, and educational and administrative officials at the end of the Qing and beginning the Republican era.
