Since November 2023, while still an MPhil student, I joined the research project on China-US PhD Examination and Application Programs (CUS-PhD-EA). I was responsible for verifying and standardizing the initial alumni list compiled by Wei Shengbin, as well as conducting preliminary data analysis and visualization. Through collaboration with Wei Shengbin, we curated standardized and unified alumni lists for China-U.S. Physics Examination and Application (CUSPEA), China-U.S. Biochemistry Examination and Application (CUSBEA), Chemistry Graduate Program (CGP), and Shiing-shen Chern math program by October 2024, and distributed a unified alumni survey questionnaire during the first ever CUS-PhD-EA alumni assembly held in late June and early July 2025 (http://activity.lib.sjtu.edu.cn/yuren/index.asp).
My PhD dissertation research project is titled “Comparing China’s Two Foreign Student Programs to the United States, 1909-1989: the Boxer Indemnity Scholarship Program (1909–1944) and the China-US PhD Examination and Application Programs in Physics, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Math, and Economics (1979–1989)”.
