Chen Jun 陈俊

I am Chen Jun, a PhD student at the Institute of Qing History, Renmin University of China since 2025. I obtained a bachelor’s degree in economics. In 2022, I joined Lee-Campbell group. In 2023, I was a visiting graduate student at HKUST. In June 2024, I earned my master’s degree in history from Central China Normal University. From 2024 to 2025, I was a research assistant in the Division of Social Science at HKUST.

My previous research focused on quantitative history and the Qing Dynasty’s bureaucratic group. Currently, I focus on the military officers of the Qing Dynasty using quantitative analysis and database technology. This mainly involves organizing the archival documents of the Qing Dynasty’s military officers and analyzing their geographical origins and distribution, age and seniority, promotion and transfer. In 2024, my co-authored paper with Prof. Cameron Campbell “Trends and Patterns in the Banner Affiliation and Qualifications of Low- and Mid-Level Military Officers in the Late Qing 清后期中下层武官的满汉比例与出身构成” was published in Historical Archives 歷史檔案.
