I am Wu Yibei, a PhD student in History of Science and Technology from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). I matriculated into this program in 2019 and expect to graduate in 2024. I earned my master’s degree in modern Chinese history at Central China Normal University (CCNU) in 2018.
I am mainly interested in intellectuals, professionals and civil officials during the Republic of China. As a member of the Lee-Campbell group, my current research project is the construction and analysis of a big historical dataset of Chinese government officials from 1912-1952, aiming to better understand their social origins, career mobility, and the civil service careers of university graduates in the first half of the twentieth century.
